After last month's excursion into big names with supa dj dmitry from dee-lite, this month Playtime is going back to its underground French roots.
Cyril K is a central part of the French scene. With Simon Says, one of the minds behind the E-Troneek / Battle / Dialect / Art Brut labels - four labels that cross old school, minimal, deep and very weird house. And he's chosen Playtime to launch Dialect's first compilation, Intersection - look out for reviews in the dance press in September.
Meanwhile, Geoffroy is a DJ we've had our eye on for a while. His label, Hi-Phen, has been one of Big Daddy's favourites for an long time - noisy, weird as you like, but irrestibly funky, with a combination of squelch and live instruments that no other label has managed. (Check out the hi-phen comp Pile-up: a crash course in dance sequences, if you want to know more.)
Then there's King Roc (Kingsize, Beautycase Recs) - electro remixer extraordinaire with fans like Neville, Tong, Smagghe. And Johnny Arthur, the DJ with the fastest-growing reputation in London.
And Opaque Jake? A DSI stalwart - if you've not heard him play, check him out yourself...
Plus residents Mike Monday and Big Daddy. It's 2PM. They just woke up. What day is it?
